‘Burro 16’, is an excellent game to develop attention, physical activation and integration of a group. Requires unity of the group, in some schools, usually in the last years of primary or secondary, they teach students to develop their motor skills.
The games teach us more about our cultural environment, the area where they play (the square, the street, the church), moments (fashion, parties). The game is a body dialogue, these games can be understood as an invitation to participate, have fun and communicate with others using the body. What is clear is that these games were developed in a period that did not cover the family economy healthy and recreational needs of children, so they were forced to create such games.
Simple games, are more to amuse ourselves than to amuse others, and were practiced by our grandparents. These games are part of their heritage, bequeathed, without thinking that one day lifestyles of their descendants would be very different from yours. So there are strong reasons to count the games of our people, performed outdoors or in the privacy of the family or friendship. Children learned with extreme ease the unwritten rules and without mental or physical risks. Each culture, of course, has its own demonstrations in all aspects of life.
The games: "Burro 16", "Burro corrido" and "Burro entamalado" are different versions depending on the region of Mexico where we are. Apparently all those names start with this particular animal. It is still a mystery why it is called by that name.
The game has always been attached to the culture of the peoples, their history, magic, the sacred, love, art, language, literature, customs, war. That has served as a link between people, and has facilitated communication between humans. It makes them understand children, adults and old immediately without any other communication link, because it springs of human kindness. It is difficult to dissociate the traditional game of human behaviour, the study of folk game, ethnography and ethologic.
Come closer the traditional game is to approach the folklore, the science of the traditions, customs, uses, beliefs and legends of a region.
The game In the game, a person is taken from the knees forming an angle of 90 with the back and legs, the others must jump, but saying phrases like these:
1. Started the donkey: only one person jumps and can touch the donkey only with the hands, if you touch with your legs, you get to be the new donkey.
Until the final number:
16. Monkeys to run: while the last player jumps, everyone should run, the 'donkey' has to catch any player, and this is the next donkey. Rules. • You cannot hit the "donkey".
• Participant who doesn’t repeat orally the game action for each jump is the next donkey.
• Participant who doesn’t do by the correct form the game, starts to be the "donkey".
• The "donkey" is placed transverse to the direction of the jumps in the jump except No. 5.
